The microchip is a small device, smaller than a grain of rice. It is injected at the side of the neck with a sharp needle and stays inside the pet for life. This microchip carries a unique number – and no other information. In our database (and any other database you register this microchip number in, such as the municipality database) In our clinic database this number will be linked to your account. Should your pet get lost, the finder will check them for a microchip and send out the number to other vets, clinics and the municipality in order to find the one that has your details registered, so that they can contact you and reunite you with your pet. We will not share any of your information without your consent!
The microchip and the registration in the Municipality database is compulsory by law for dogs and cats living in the UAE.
If you relocate or travel to a different country with your pet it also has to have a microchip implanted. It is a means of identification and used to prove that the animal has had the required vaccinations, which is why a pet has to be microchipped BEFORE the vaccinations!
